John Scaini discovered art relatively late in life. Although it wasn’t something he had a lot of experience with, it was a challenge he wanted to face head on: When John was told that watercolour is the most difficult form of painting, he decided it was the right medium for him. Facing Challenges is nothing new to John, who is a third- degree Karate Black belt. Karate and Tai-Chi have helped John slow the effects of Parkinson’s Disease. Painting is another outlet for John, who prefers to paint landscapes, flowers and animals. “Painting is relaxing and when I concentrate and am focused there is less shaking.”
Over the past 4 years, life has presented considerably more challenges so he has done less painting. He was diagnosed with Parkinson in January 1999 at the age of 45, his positive attitude, determination, strength of will and his faith have helped him overcome many trials.
